The relief sculptures from my recent exhibition, Wilderness, will be shown during the season of Lent at the All Saints Presbyterian church gallery in Austin, Texas.
“Poisonous plants represent the fine line between life and death: these beautiful, living things can bring sickness and death, or, if used wisely, they can bring healing … Like the season of Lent, time in the wilderness is a kind of death; it is an invitation to empty ourselves and experience God’s care and provision. As we anticipate Christ's death and resurrection together, I pray that these sculptures will remind us of the hidden dangers of this world and help us to appreciate the complicated beauty of the life we are given.”
